sunday dinner at g & g's

I got my camera on my phone working again.  I am not sure how or why it stopped working in the first place, and I am not sure what I did to make it start working again, but it works now.  So, our activities after dinner were documented.
Here's Grammy with a classic Grammy face.  I'm not sure what Eric is thinking.  I think Grammy was telling me not to take any pictures of her.
Now Grammy is yelling at me to stop taking pictures.  Nice.  That, or she is practicing her choir singing.  I'm kidding.  I don't know what she is saying/doing.  I just thought this picture was funny.
Robyn doing some fancy hand moves - razzle dazzle!
 Now I got Grammy smiling!
Robyn, Shelle, Allison, Eric, Quinny, Haley, Kim (me), Mimi
We all look possessed - especially Eric.  I love it!
Eric still looks a little crazy.

Where was Grandpa during all of this?  On the computer in the basement of course!  Grammy said, "I see that view of him a lot."  The glow from the computer screen gives him a rather angelic look.

I have no explanation for this picture.  I didn't take it, but I did find it on my phone.

pioneer children

Cousin Allison

While doing a little dressing up today, Allison came in the kitchen where Shelle and I were preparing some lunch.  As she handed Shelle the red bandana, she said, "I want it on like the Chinese ears!"
Shelle said, "The what?"
To which Allison replied, "The Chinese ears."
Then Shelle clued in - the pioneers!
We are just keeping our heritage alive at this house!

where's eric?

Several times lately I have asked (to no one in particular) as to the whereabouts of kid number three.  Most of the time I get no response, or if I'm lucky, I get a shoulder shrug with a mumbled "Idunno".  This sends me on a little hunt around the house to see what he is up to.  Nine times out of ten I have found him reading.  The other ten percent of the time he has been napping.  I am sure that percentage is going to flip flop very soon.  He is eleven after all.

His latest book series of choice has been the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  He has cracked me up many times as he has tried to tell me about something from the book and has been giggling so hard he has had a hard time getting the words out.  I'm not sure how many times he has read these books - I'm sure it's more than once on a few of them.  He has already requested the new book that comes out in November.  I think we can handle that request.

worst tooth fairy ever

Mia found me this morning with a very sad (and toothless) face.
I asked her what was wrong.
She told me the tooth fairy didn't come.
I then had to let her know that we have the world's worst tooth fairy.
She is very, very forgetful.
Sometimes she would forget Robyn's teeth for days in a row.
I think she even forgot Robyn's first tooth she ever lost.
I really think she should be fired and someone else should be assigned to her post.
Needless to say, Mia's tooth is safely tucked under her pillow for another try tonight.

done barfing

I can't think of a better way to usher in good health than with ice cream mixed with candy!  Robert decided this was the best way to celebrate our good health.  We stopped at Walmart so Quinny could buy a little treat with her five dollar bill that Grammy gave her, and Robert kept loading up on candy.  I asked him what he was doing.  He said, "It's okay.  It's to mix in the ice cream."
Haley was the first in line for this cool treat.  She and Eric were the only ones that avoided the pukes and squirts - lucky them, unlucky us!
Look at those hands fly as he madly mixes!  Maybe he should get a second job at Cold Stone?

sunday play

Mimi was all smiles yesterday when she lost her front tooth.  Unfortunately her smiles quickly faded when she got sick.  She started vomiting in the early evening and it lasted through the night.
We invited Grammy, Grandpa, Shelle, and Allison over for dinner.  Shelle opted out because she wasn't feeling well.  Sundays with family around are the best!  We spent some time on the back porch after dinner.  Allison and Quinny had a dance party complete with ballerina outfits.  The giggles were abundant.

Every ballerina should have a matching soccer ball.

I am really hoping we only sent G, G, and Allison home with smiles and hugs.  Later that evening, Quinny and Robyn got sick.  By morning Robert and I were feeling sick.  Our family was hit pretty hard.

thumb suckin'

We have had our friends, the Monson's, here this week visiting.  They have four children: Sienna, Baylor, Malynn, and Daimon.  They all suck their thumbs/fingers.  We, the Thomas family, are quite familiar with this little habit.  Robyn was a pro at finger sucking.  She sucked until third grade.  Quinn is a champion thumb sucker.  Give her a burpee and watch her go!  The Monson's, however, outshine us in this category.  What skill and endurance!!

They are so good at it in fact, they got one of our non-suckers to give it a whirl!

spicy

I put Robyn in charge of Family Night last night.  She had us make this spice cake together.  Actually, we helped put in the ingredients and she did all of the magic.  There is an art to making cakes, and Robyn has definitely figured it out!

Creamy Mimi living up to her name.

Robyn said, "I love spices!"  Maybe that's why she loves Quinny so much.  She is certainly full of some spice!

hello junior year

She's ready to go!
It's going to be a great year - I just know it!

balloon art

Robyn and a doggy.

Quinny loved this balloon animal that Robyn made for her so much she slept with it.  I woke up this morning at 6:15 to the sound of squeaking.  It was really nice of Q to bring her doggy into my room and squeak it in my ear while asking me for a movie and a drink.  I'm not sure what makes more noise, the balloon or her voice.  She thinks of such fun and exciting ways to wake me up.

saturday sunshine

Karen was very accommodating yesterday.  Not only did she let us invite ourselves over to swim in her pool, but she fed us lunch as well!!  They made Rice Krispie treats, and I love Rice Krispie treats!  What a sister!  She's the best!  We completely overstayed our welcome, and it was awesome!  Karen, if you are reading this, and I know you are, thanks!  We had a super duper afternoon.
I love Robyn's hair in this picture.  It looks circa 1805.
Mimi's goggles were so tight I thought she was going to give herself goggle hickeys.  Luckily the red marks wore off after a little while.  She wasn't going to let ANY water inside!
 Hi Karen!
This is what Allison did when I asked her to look at the camera.  Shelle wasn't feeling well, so this is one of the few smiles I saw out of her that morning/afternoon.
 Keegan (Karen's youngest son)

Here's Eric jumping off the diving board and showing off his rump roast.  This is not his best jump/dive, but it was the one he chose to do for the camera.

Half of the people in the pool were trying to coax Quinny off the diving board.  I also noticed this is the only picture I got of Haley in the pool. She's the one on the right.  She kind of slipped in the pool and then slipped out.  It's too bad I didn't get a better picture.  She has a new swimming suit and it's adorable.

Robyn to the rescue.  I guess the other picture wasn't the only one of Haley.  Look, there she is under the diving board.  You can often find her lurking about if Quinny is nearby.
