walk now for autism speaks - arizona 2011

Haley's school, Gateway Academy, participated in the Walk Now for Autism 2011.  Shelle and Allison joined us on the walk.  Aside from Mimi falling twice and having a bloody nose, we all had a great time.  Maybe next year Haley will join us!

friday - zoo day

Despite the way Quinn looks in the picture, she had a great time at the zoo.  She had a minor meltdown on the train ride when we saw the camels.  She was ready to jump off and take a ride on one.  When I told her she was already on a ride and had to stay put, she proceeded to start chanting, "I want to ride the camel."  She produced a couple of real tears to go with the whining.  She never did get her camel ride, but she did have a blast playing in the treehouse with Allison.  They have a new exit at the zoo.  You have to pass through the gift shop to get out.  As you can see from the picture, it worked on me.  I'm a sucker.

playing at the park

Mimi and Quinny have reached an age where they like to play together.
I don't think there is anything better than to hear your kids giggling and playing together.
It makes me smile.

Pizza Face
I keep finding faces in my food.
Is it trying to tell me something?
The only thing this pizza was saying was,
"Eat me.  I'm delicious."
I did.
It was.

Addi's prayer

   Here's my conversation with Addi:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who should say the prayer?

I'll say a beautiful pare (prayer)

Close you eyes and fold your arms

Okay.  Now say the prayer.

Once upon a time, Jesus Christ was born, and he had a fuzzy lellow (yellow) blanket that was wonerful (wonderful) and protected him and he had a beautiful family with a boy, and a mommy, and a daddy, and lots of sissars (sisters).  One day, a qquukarry (scary) wolf blew their house all down, and they live happily ever after.

Now say: I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!  Amen.

Amen.  Goodnight Quinny.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, she said a lot of other crazy stuff, but I can't remember.  We also talked about how to say a prayer.  At least she's got the "amen" part right.  We'll see how she says the prayer tomorrow.

can you wink?

I asked Mimi if she could wink.
She said, "I can wink with both eyes!"
Then she showed me.
Brilliant.

q & m photography

While at Eric's soccer game on Saturday, Mimi and Quinn took a few pictures.
It was pretty hot out (93 degrees).
Does is show?
Eric hurt his knee a little.
The kids say I look like a bobble-head fly in this picture.
Thanks, kids!!

Quinny took this one of Mimi and the one below of Robert.

Dad's Watermelon

My Dad was cutting watermelon and we were going to Grandma's house.  My Dad found this...

     We all started to laugh.

uh....

 Do you see those cans?
They are all filled to the very top.
The green cans are filled with grass.
The lawn was scalped this week and the winter lawn was planted.
The cans are heavy and there are always scorpions hiding behind them - I saw one today.
As I was taking the cans out this morning, I noticed that none of the neighbors had their cans out yet.
Strange.
Then I realized it was Thursday.
Friday is pick-up day.
I got all five cans out there before I figured this out.
I am sure we will get a complaint of some kind, but those cans are staying there until tomorrow.
I'm off to a great start today....

Quinny came in the other day after dressing herself and proclaimed,
"I'm gorgeous!"
The more color the better.
She is pretty dang cute - most of the time.

before and after

Quinny was promised two things for learning to use the toilet.
- For going #1 ten times she got a unicorn pillow pet.  This goal was accomplished rather quickly.
- For going #2 ten times she was to get her ears pierced.  This goal, no matter how much you want it, takes a little more time.  After much persistence, she made it to ten (and beyond), so off to the mall we went.
Here she is ready for the pink earrings that she had picked out.
 Piercing #1
 Piercing #2
She announced to all standing around her (the entire family) that it hurt!  She really only cried for a second.  Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of her admiring herself in the mirror.  She was very proud of her new bling.

She is also very proud of her new bathroom skills.  She has told me several times how happy she is about going potty.  We are all happy, Quinny!

Later we split up to get some food for dinner.  We left Haley, Robyn, Eric, and Mia at a table eating while Robert and I got a different kind of food.  When we returned, Mia was covering her mouth and refusing to eat.  I knew immediately what the problem was.  I've been calling her Mater (from the movie Cars) for at least two days.  She's had a front tooth dangerously dangling making it difficult to eat.  When she opened her mouth to show us the tooth, it was barely holding on.  Wasting no time, Robert grabbed a napkin and then grabbed her tooth.  Just like that, it was out!
There was no crying involved, just laughter.
Now we have a cute little jack-o-lantern for Halloween, and Mimi can ask Santa for some new bucky-beaver teeth.

thomas sleeping patterns parte cuatro.

As I picked up my headphones and started to put them into my ears before bed, I noticed something was wrong...
they were naked.  This was not the first time this had occurred, so I knew exactly where to go.  Quinn's room.

I looked in the normal place she stores stolen items.  Her toy kitchen.  Specifically, the microwave.  Unfortunately, I did not find the rubber pieces for my headphones, but I did find some of my money and a label maker.  You can't give me a label maker and expect nothing to come of it...

And here's Mimi in one of her usual unusual sleeping positions.  I snapped a picture, because she was sleeping especially unusually AND you can see the heart bracelet she received from a boy at school, who she thinks "likes her but is too afraid to tell her."  Luckily, it doesn't matter, because she's "not even into boys yet."

amazing jake's food & fun

Haley, Lee, Eric, Mimi
Haley's friend from school, Eric, invited her to Amazing Jake's in Mesa.  Since it is fall break, the entire family decided to tag along.  I hope we didn't cramp her style too much.  Amazing Jake's is truly amazing.  It is a little bit like Chuck E. Cheese's on crack.  It has an all-you-can-eat buffet where we ate all we could eat, ice cream being #1.  There was laser tag, mini golf, bowling, bumper cars, and much, much more.  I have had more than one kid since yesterday ask if we could go again.

Quinny is a total thrill seeker.  She was too short and young to ride on the roller coaster, which caused wailing and head rolling.  She settled for a spin on the tea cups.  She was thrilled as she threw her hands in the air with delight!

dance party

How to:

1.  Clear some space.
If you have very little furniture like us, this will not be hard to do.

2.  Turn on your favorite tunes.

3.  Bust a move with your besties.

4.  Laugh and groove 'til you can't shake it anymore.
